MALBA - Buenos Aires Latin American Museum

Its permanent collection consists of more than 400 works

Horarios de atención: Monday from 12 to 8pm / Wednesday to Sunday 12 to 8pm

On Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, on the corner of San Martín de Tours, stands a contemporary-deconstructivist style building. It is the Malba, the museum dedicated to the art of the region in Buenos Aires. Its permanent collection consists of more than 400 works (paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, collages, videos) of renowned Latin artists, such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Xul Solar or Fernando Botero. But there are temporary exhibitions that are not always limited to the art of Latin America. It is worthwhile to look at the museum's program before visiting it, to see what novelty we can find.

Not to be missed: the Malba is not only the site of works of art, but also of experiences. Many of their activities imply that the visitor participates interactively with everything they are seeing. There are literary activities, such as readings, presentations, round tables, conferences and interviews with current writers. There are educational programs about art that include guided tours, plastic workshops and creative expression. There are courses on the work of iconic artists that encourage the critical thinking. And the Malba also has a movie theater where alternative circuit films are usually screened.
